Today is the food giveaway here in Colorado Springs, CO and we are excited! People are starting to call – not as many as last time but we’ll see what happens. Praying the Lord will multiply the food we have and that people will be fed! In addition to the preparation of the food giveaway, we are packing up the last of the offices to move to the new site! Changes are not easy – but they ARE necessary!! The new site (as I already introduced it in an earlier post) is lovely and I can’t WAIT to get there! I’ve been working with Apostle Iva to establish the Internet so there’s no hesitation in work between now and then.
We are so thankful to God for this change of location. We pray that people all around the world, as well as in this, the United States of America, will pray for us, support us both financially and spiritually as the family of God needs to stand together and fill the niche that they’ve been led into. There are days when I wonder why I bother to write these – worry that people aren’t really paying it attention beyond liking it but I can’t allow myself to think that way. This is what God has established for me to do and I’m pretty decent at writing, so I continue to be obedient and trust that eventually, I will be able to establish conversation with people – to be able to help as many people as is possible.
May God bless you and give you all that you stand in need of. We are struggling; no denying it or changing it until it changes through God’s power. We need this grant we’re working on- we’re not going to be able to do much until that happens. I have been working here for 7 months as a volunteer. We are ALL volunteers here and we need to move forward. We need prayer, ya’ll!
Should the Lord put it on your heart to give to this ministry, you can always visit http://www.oimco.org and contribute to Pay Pal or if you prefer to mail a check, it should go to OVERCOMERS INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY at 607 Bryce Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80910 (the church). Pray for us – that’s my strongest plea.
We had a fantastic time! We gathered 26 signatures of interested individuals, scheduled 3 people for interviews between Friday and Monday and networked with the other people in the room, the organizations represented ranging from free medical care for the un- and under -insured to offers for free GED possibilities including CPR and other worthy things to know. If I wasn’t so busy- I might try to get certified again as I was many years ago !
In future blogs, I will be introducing some of the people (as soon as I email them and obtain their permission) that I met today because we’re a community and we’re all trying to do the same thing- help people, just using our individual skills and resources. By partnering up, I – along with -can help more people, bring in more interested volunteers and doners. I believe God loves collaboration- after all, is not our relationship with God through Jesus the Christ, the ULTIMATE COLLABORATION??!
Following this event, I received an email from the man who invited us to the function, thanking us. I want to share it with all of you, withholding the name until I can properly introduce the people we’ve partnered up with, assuming we end up going that direction.
Thank you so much for coming, your presence and resources helped to make this our greatest event so far and we only hope to get better. Yesterday we had over 200 participants come through our doors and we help 27 participants find employment 19 of which start work today. Our next event will be July 10th from 9:30am-2:30pm we would be honored to have you again. If you would like to attend feel free to contact me via email or call.
I am so blessed to have the privilege to represent an organization that helps the needy. I guess it’s because I am who I am and my very recent experience with homelessness – off and on for the last 9 years- that makes me especially sympathetic and empathetic with the plight of those who can’t and don’t have enough to eat, places to work and live, etc. On the other hand, I have been blessed in soooo many ways and with so many wonderful people throughout the years that it makes all the suffering worth it, most days.
**** As an end note, I am so happy to report that we have 13 interviews lined up for perspective volunteers. God is so awesome, ya’ll!****
The last fundraiser Overcomers International Ministry held was in front of Walmart on Platte Street here in Colorado Springs last weekend, March 15 and 16. We wish to extend a heartfelt Thank you to those who gave so cheerfully and generously.
The nature of a fundraiser of this kind is that most of the people who walk out of Walmart who gave are anonymous to us (in name only, never in Spirit) and most assuredly not to God, the Father, and the reason this ministry is open in the first place.
Because so many stepped forward and gave, we were able to purchase foodstuffs for lots of families and we’re so thankful for you!!
Every time lives intersect in any way, an impact takes place and even if no one who gave to God through us sees this page, it’s important that they’re recognized as Proverbs calls us to “Let another to praise us and not the words of our own mouths”. With that in mind, OIM sends out a major shout and a Thank you!! May God bless you in all areas of your life-financially, emotionally and spiritually.
Matthew 25:34-40 says:
“Then the King (God) will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundations of the world:
For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you visited Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
‘When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
‘Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You?
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say unto you, inasmuch as you did it to one of these the least of My brethren, you did it to Me.'”
Overcomers International Ministry was started in 2006 by Apostle Iva Bowers. Following her overcoming of breast cancer, she was blessed with the ability to heal others and was given this ministry.
Overcomers International Ministry is a non-profit organization dedicated to the filling of spiritual and physical needs. In order to fill both needs, two addresses are important to know:
First, there’s the church. The address to the church is 607 Bryce Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. You are most welcome to visit and we’d love to have you!
Second, there’s the office which is located at 2210 La Salle Rd, Ste 206, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. The office consists of two offices, outfitted for multiple volunteers and a food pantry, recently blessed with donations, which is how the ministry runs.
Because OIM is a non-profit, periodically, fundraisers are required for collecting donations to fill the pantry, so hungry families can be fed. With the blessings brought in, careful study is done on the Internet for the best prices and places to shop for supplies. Printable coupons are used on a regular basis.
Following, is a list of the future fundraisers:
Palmer Park Walmart:
- May 17 & 18
- July 19-21
- August 16-18
- October 11-12
- April 12
- May 10-11
We welcome all in who want and need to be blessed. Assistance. Understanding. Compassion. Guidance.
May God bless you!
