Good morning, I hope you are all well!!
On October 14, 2013, Freedom Chiropractic will be hosting a dinner at Sonterra’s Grill, here in Colorado Springs. I do hope that some of you can attend, if you’re in the neighborhood. The tickets are $15 and all proceeds will go to Overcomers International Ministry. For more information or to obtain tickets, please call me at 719-646-5354 or email me at email@example.com.
As many of you know, we had a VERY successful food give-a-way last Thursday and we intend to hold on every three months if God allows.
In order for that to happen, we have to get more food. We have been unable to schedule any fundraisers for this month (June) and so we have to ask for help AND help ourselves by coming up with creative ways to raise money to stock up.
Our shelves are mostly bare right now; we won’t be able to help very many people for the foreseeable future. This is what it looks like right at this moment:
And this is what we need it to look like (again):
Walking with the Lord, working for a nonprofit as I do, is stressful AND rewarding. Even if no one comes in here and sees this, I know that God sees and will respond through the people he’s chosen to do so- as well as anyone else who loves the Lord and can do something to help. I regret that I can’t post our PayPal account to this site without upgrading (and Lord knows I’d love to upgrade!!) but operating on the budget we are, which is anything but adequate, that’s just not a possibility, nor can I do anything personally- I’m close enough to homeless as it is. Trust is an important phase I’m still working on and like with most people, it’s no easy lesson. If you DO want to use PayPal and can help, visit http://www.oimco.org and utilize that PayPal account.
I want to take a moment to say thank you to anyone/everyone who has prayed for us- you have sustained us with those prayers. As James 5:16 says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much“
To those who have helped by means of physical blessing, we also bless you! James 2:14-17 says, “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Please understand that I am not saying these things to inflict guilt on anyone- I HATE it when people do that, particularly in the name of “religion”. I am writing as led by God as I always do. He’s strong to save and we’re trusting him to carry out what he’s promised.
I will leave you with this to chew on. Thanks to everyone; everyone who’s read this and liked/responded to it. I’m always open to constructive criticism or ideas. I believe the family of God is just that: A family. As the operator of this page, I am open to conversation, ideas, thoughts, whatever you choose to do.
It’s been a while since I’ve written anything and I wanted to make sure that Overcomers International Ministry is not forgotten.
and myself, we interviewed – and accepted – three new volunteers.
Volunteers come to us when they need office experience and are fulfilling the requirements of either Employment First or Viewpoints/Directions via Goodwill Industries
for people on TANF (Cash Aid) or food stamps (SNAP). We are beyond blessed to have these new additions coming on; one speaks Spanish fluently and will be able to convert all our essential documents into Spanish for future Spanish speaking volunteers (Apostle Iva is from Panama so Spanish is her native tongue) and two others who know the computer as well as I do which will help me to do a more productive day and not have to do everything myself.
Seriously, though, I think I do a pretty good job of getting the things done that need to be done, fairly expeditiously, but as General Manager, a title I’ve never held before and certainly don’t want to lose, one of the things I must learn to do is DELEGATE and this is my opportunity to do so.
We have fundraisers coming up again, May 10th and 11th at Walmart on Platte Street and again on May 17th and 18th at the Palmer Park Walmart and I hope that anyone in the area will come by and see us. If you need food; if you know someone who needs it, please let them know about the Food Pantry at 2210 La Salle in Colorado Springs. Tuesday and Thursday from 2-3 is when we hand out food, having each family fill out an application and then giving as the family size indicates (a LOT of food). As the need and demand rises, we will open our food pantry more to accommodate.
Come and visit us!! For more information about Overcomers International Ministry, please come visit us at http://www.oimco.org!
The last fundraiser Overcomers International Ministry held was in front of Walmart on Platte Street here in Colorado Springs last weekend, March 15 and 16. We wish to extend a heartfelt Thank you to those who gave so cheerfully and generously.
The nature of a fundraiser of this kind is that most of the people who walk out of Walmart who gave are anonymous to us (in name only, never in Spirit) and most assuredly not to God, the Father, and the reason this ministry is open in the first place.
Because so many stepped forward and gave, we were able to purchase foodstuffs for lots of families and we’re so thankful for you!!
Every time lives intersect in any way, an impact takes place and even if no one who gave to God through us sees this page, it’s important that they’re recognized as Proverbs calls us to “Let another to praise us and not the words of our own mouths”. With that in mind, OIM sends out a major shout and a Thank you!! May God bless you in all areas of your life-financially, emotionally and spiritually.
Matthew 25:34-40 says:
“Then the King (God) will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundations of the world:
For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you visited Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
‘When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
‘Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You?
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say unto you, inasmuch as you did it to one of these the least of My brethren, you did it to Me.'”
